Samurai Lose To London Irish At North Walsham

The Samurai Barracudas in their first outing at the North Walsham Sevens performed well with impressive wins over the Kaiviti Krusaders and Cambridge RFC with Harlequins academy winger Seb Stegmann, Wales Rugby Sevens International Will Harries and Northampton Scrum Half Ben Jones finishing off some fantastic play with crowd pleasing tries.  Captained by Samurai Stalwart Jon Hooper the side progressed into the Semi Finals to face a young London Irish side.  Following a mix up with the organisers the Samurai Barracudas were given the wrong KO time and arrived at short notice to find London Irish waiting for them.  The first half went less than well with London Irish running in 21 unanswered points as the Samurai Barracudas struggled to get into their stride after their pre match preparation was confined to putting their boots on and hurrying to the pitch.  After half time the crowd finally got what they wanted as the Barracudas came out of the blocks firing!  With Ben Pegna and the two Clayton brothers making big line breaks the Samurai Barracudas closed the scores to 21 - 19 but couldn't quite finish off a quite fantastic come back!
