Samurai Barracudas Make Big Impact On IRB Series
The Samurai Barracudas management have been keeping tabs on their players who have stepped up to play for their nations in this years IRB Series. As ever rugby sevens is a great opportunity for young up and coming rugby stars to showcase their talent and for sevens specialists to represent their nation.
Obviously with several players from the Barracudas squad that won Bournemouth making the grade for England and making names for themselves it was going to bode well for the development reputation of the invitational side. Jake Abbott (Worcester Warriors) and Christian Wade (London Wasps) have been virtual everpresents from that winning squad but other Barracudas players including Dan Norton, Dan Caprice, Matt Turner, Chris Cracknell, Don Barrell, Tom Powell and Josh Drauniniu have played for England this series!
For Wales the likes of Barracudas Will Harries and Aaron Bramwell have been playing well to build on Wales recent Sevens RWC triumph. Daniel Hondo has been doing well for Zimbabwe most noticably in their narrow loss to SA in Hong Kong.
It's not just players but some of the Barracudas coaches have also been out on the sevens circuit. Dai Rees is doing a fantastic job with Hong Kong, Ben Ryan and Rusty Earnshaw are coaching England and Will Thomas is assistant coach for Wales.
Everyone at the Samurai Barracudas wishes all of our Alumni the very best on the IRB series and look forward to seeing them back pulling on a Barracudas shirt this year!
